Leupold Gun Rack: Tyson S.

This Is My Boom Stick!!

They say that dogs tend to resemble their owners; the same can be said for gun owners. Specifically those of us who build something from the ground up, where each piece was hand-picked and assembled to their liking. It's inevitable that some of what makes us who we are would make its way into an extremely personalized build.

Case-in-point, Tyson S's custom Remington 700. This build is as stout and sturdy as it's owner. Let's just say that you wouldn't want to meet either of them in a dark ally.

The build all centers around a tried-and-true Remington 700 action. There are definitely fancier, more expensive options out there, but for the money, it's hard to beat a 700 action, especially if you have a gunsmith who knows how to do a little magic. Attached to the bottom of the action is a tried-and-true Timney, single stage trigger.

The barrel, which features a Rem-age nut, is a bull barrel contour with a 1/10 twist. Tyson chose this style for increased accuracy under rapid fire, and it's ability to help mitigate recoil, which is nice since it's chambered in .300 WIN MAG. Speaking of recoil, he also has an American Precision Arms Fat Bastard break on the end. It's brutally effiecient at lessening recoil; just don't be standing next to it when someone sends one down range.

The action and barrel are Cerakoted in burnt bronze. This seems to be one of the most popular color choices out there as it goes with just about everything and really gives the rifle a unique look.

Cradling the action is Magpul's 700 Hunter stock. This stock has become extremely popular not only with hunters (as its name implies), but with the long-range tactical crowd, as well. It's ability to be customized to the individual shooter and ease of installation make it one of the mods you're going to get the most out of right off the bat.

Just like a rug ties a room together, completing this sweet build is a Leupold Mark 4 6.5-20x50 LR/T M1. The Mark 4 has a long and storied military legacy as a bomb-proof scope, so it was a natural choice for this nearly indestructible build.

"It's not too particular about what ammo it eats, but it seems to like the factory Hornady 200gr ELD-X Precision Hunter the best".

We're pretty impressed with how this build turned out - it's just at home on the range as it is in the backcountry. Well done Tyson... Well done!
