Show Notes

Colorado is a hunter’s paradise – and never more so than in mid-November, when the largest elk herd in the United States is on the move and bruiser mule deer bucks emerge from the sage brush for the rut. Big game hunters from across the country annually descend on the Centennial State with dreams of filling their freezers and adding a true trophy to the wall of their den.

Much of northwestern Colorado welcomes those hunters with open arms – and signs that hang from buildings throughout town. Leupold’s Shawn Skipper just returned from a week-long mule deer hunt in Craig, Col., where he and five companions battled single-digit temperatures and bouts of snow in pursuit of mule deer. He was joined by Browning’s Shaundi Campbell and the Editorial Director of all NRA Publications, John Zent, in recording this latest addition to the Leupold Core Insider Podcast. Tune in to get the inside details of their hunt, learn a bit more about Colorado’s rich hunting grounds, and even get a few at-home taxidermy tips.
