Leupold & Stevens, Inc., is pleased to announce that Leupold Core Team Member Josh Reeves took 1st Place in the .223 AR-15 division and 2nd Place overall at the 2019 Competition Dynamics Steel Safari, held June 7-9 in Logan, N.M. Reeves was running a Leupold Mark 5HD 3.6-18x44mm.

The Steel Safari event was designed to be the archetypal “hike-and-shoot” long-range rifle match. The course tested a wide spectrum of skills – including target recognition, ranging, wind doping, ballistic data management, marksmanship under field conditions, non-standard shooting positions, and rudimentary trail skills. The .223 AR-15 Division was new for 2019.

“Precision rifle competitions are demanding to begin with – they’re a true test of so many of the medium’s fundamental skills,” Reeves said. “The Steel Safari took that a step further by asking its shooters to test their skills as an outdoorsman. When you’re already facing challenges like that, you need to be able to rely on your gear, without question. The Mark 5HD was an easy choice when I set up my rifle.”

The Mark 5HD that Reeves ran on his Steel Safari rifle has been crafted to redefine accuracy, precision, and optical performance for long-range shooters. Three models – a 7-35x56, 5-25x56, and 3.6-18x44 – are available in both milliradian and MOA configurations. The 3.6-18x44 model, in particular, features TMR, Illuminated TMR, Tremor 3, Illuminated Tremor 3, H59, and CCH reticles in the milliradian model. PR-1MOA, Illuminated PR-1MOA, and Impact 60 reticles area available in the MOA model.

“When we designed the Mark 5HD, we asked some of the best competitive shooters out there what they needed in a riflescope,” said Joshua Bechard, Marketing Partnerships Specialist for Leupold & Stevens, Inc. “The Mark 5HD is the result of that, and we know more and more top-line competitors like Josh will be adopting it in the near future.”
