Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice up close, don't expect much from a distance I don't want to talk bad about this thing, at close range, it is really cool. Any further than 100 yards and I don't think it would be of much value. The range on the LTO is listed at 600 yards. At 70 yards, my 80 pound dog was nothing more than a small yellow ball. The zoom simply makes the screen larger, it doesn't zoom like turning up the power on a scope. I was very excited to get one of these and even waited a month for it but am pretty disappointed in what it ended up being. I'm sure for trailing a fresh blood trail it would be very useful but for long range location, I don't think it would be of much help.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Prevented a house fire I bought one yesterday, and after wanding around my house with it I noticed a previous guest had left a candle warmer in a spare bedroom, and it was still on (for 3-4 weeks). Maybe it wouldn't have done any harm, but worst case could have been a house fire while I was gone during the day. On behalf of me, and my six month old puppy, you will NOT regret getting one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Changed night hunting tactics for hogs Have had the LTO for about a month and taken it on two night time hog hunts, both successes due to the LTO. If used within it true limits, it is a great tool. I feel comfortable using it to locate suspected game out to 200 yards, then making positive identification with a quality green LED hunting light. It takes some time to get familiar with the heat sources it is detecting. With time, the more I use it, the better I am getting at interpreting what it is actually detecting. Did use on one hog kill, to locate the kill, once it ran into the wood line. Could not find it with a quality light, but the LTO quickly found the downed animal. Overall, I really like it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Features for the price I recently bought this and have been testing out this little device. Like many who rated this poorly, I too, almost returned it because I thought it wasn't what I expected. But after discovering its little annoyances and working around them, I find it is a really, great product. First, really no instructions. Opening the battery compartment can confuse most users who thinks you remove the top piece by grabbing the top portion with the slotted grip ring and unscrewing it counterclockwise when in reality, while looking at the eye piece, you just grab the slotted ring and unsrew it clockwise from the top portion. Second, and this is why I almost returned it because the picture was grainy, when you turn on the Leupold LTO, it by default is already in a magnification of 1.5x. I thought it was just in 1x magnification and my field of view and picture quality was poor. This is not the case. Press the center button and cycle through until you get to 1x magnification and your picture quality and field of view will be significantly better. You are able to identify objects a lot better. Third, it is a new product and I went to register it on the site, and could not finish the registration because the LTO is not on the product list that I could find. I will have to wait til the weekday to call Leupold to see how to register it. I researched the LTO versus the Flir Scout TK and went with the LTO for three reasons, 1. User replaceable battery (FLIR wouldn't publish a price list on how much it cost to replace their battery but said you mail it in and they will give you a quote). 2. 5 year warranty 3. refresh rate is more than 3 times over the Scout. Hope this helps some of you. I think this is a great product. Leupold probably could have included some lens covers, neck lanyard, and cleaning cloth with the LTO.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it Affordable and small device that gives you an advantage in the field. Finding a downed deer during archery season just got a lot easier. Also helps when trying to sneak in or out of the stand when it's dark outside. I'm looking forward to trying it during spring turkey season to find early morning birds in the roost. Downside; no protective case or cover for the lens.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good unit for the price This is a good unit for the price, but it suffers by having a very low resolution.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The concept and price are great! The one weakness is the digital zoom. If it was an optical zoom, then it would be great. But a digital zoom only exaggerates any distortion, whereas an optical zoom would clarify a distant object.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Leupold LTO-Tracker I like it, but such an expensive device should come with a protective case!
