Rated 5 out of 5 by from As good as any scope at any price I have other high end scopes and had planned on a Nightforce for this project. I ended up buying Vortex, Nightforce, and this Leupold. In the end, I mounted the Leupold and returned the others. I do like the Nightforce, Vortex, Burris, B&L and Zeiss scopes I have on other guns but none are better and the ones of equal quality cost much more. I have actually used the lifetime warranty once as well and it can't be beat. I had a 30 year old 20 power when they were made out of 2 pieces. I was pulling it through some packaging and pulled it apart. Sent it in and they sent me the latest and greatest 20 power they had in stock with no questions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A hunters scope I've had this scope on my Encore in .270 win for 2 seasons now and it has done the Leupold brand justice. The clear glass, perfect eye relief, and easy to adjust dial has made the VX3 a favorite and has made me a Leupold fan. I've had many scopes and this one fits my needs perfectly. I normally hunt in the mountains of Virginia with short to medium range shots and I have the occasional long range shot at farms. I feel more than comfortable making the shots because I have the VX3 in my setup. Also the gold ring and the nice black finish really looks sharp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best scope. In my opinion this is the perfect size and weight scope. I own/have owned several of this particular scope, along with many other Leupold scopes, but this model is my favorite. And like all Leupold optics, the optical quality is second to none. I'm a hunter, not a target shooter (for pleasure anyway), so the size and weight of the scope is the most important thing to me. And this scope is just the right size. I would HIGHLY recommend this scope to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything i wanted and then some! I purchased this scope after many years of saving. I had always wanted to put that golden ring on top of my Browning A-Bolt II and after finally getting it and putting on top I am so glad I waited. My friends were all jealous at the range the other day. The scope was so strong and clear I was using it almost as a spotting scope for everyone else. The CDS setup is beyond awesome and the custom dial was ordered and to my door in short order. In the end the customer service and scope quality was above my expectations and wouldn't hesitate to save up for another beautiful American made product from Leupold.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The scope I never received. I was promised this scope while attending the Accusport Show in DFW, in Jan 2016. I have yet to receive it. I already own two of them. Have shot Elk at 300 yds and deer at 30 yards. The glass is clear and bright, with no distortion that I can see. The adjustments are true and repeatable. The CDS dial is accurate with the specified ammunition. There is ample eye relief. The power range is adequate for most big game hunting. I have shot antelope past 300 yards with the scope set on 8x. What else can I say, I would not have purchased two of them if I was satisfied with the product. I only wish the Company representative would have followed through on his promise,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what you pay for. I bought this scope about 2 years back to put on my 300 win mag that I have set up for long range shooting. It is the most light weight and highly adjustable scopes on the market. I went for the upgraded reticle TS-32X1 reticle and I have been very pleased. I shoot targets out to 1200 yards regularly and have shot game out to 600 without any problems. The adjustments are always true and the lower power magnification allows for quick target acquisition even at close ranges. I will be recommending this scope to others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Trustworthy Companion - Perfect tool for the job! I bought my first VX-3 2.5-8X36 (back when they were VX-III) in 2006. The demands placed on this new scope were and remain rigorous. It had to be without compromise in any performance area and fit down tight on the receiver of my 760 to keep proper head alignment for quick shooting since it's primary use would be for still-hunting and tracking whitetails in the mountains of WV. This scope paid for itself on the first season. I took a great buck in such a miserable snowstorm at dusk that I know beyond a doubt that I would not have been able to see with my former scope. Its service since then has been flawless. No matter the weather, no matter the situation. This scope has been through it all. Never neglected or abused, but hunted with in whatever conditions presented. Now I have another of the newer VX-3 2.5-8X36 models on a carbine 760 that is as fine a tool for the job as one could ask for. It's first service year (2014), it performed flawlessly in a snap shootout at what turned out to be my biggest buck to date. I consider these two scopes reliable and trustworthy companions. They are the perfect size, no compromise, rifle scope for my needs. Light, bright, accurate, rugged, made in USA, and backed by an airtight guarantee, how could you go wrong?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from CDS, Proven in the field I used this scope, mounted on a Kimber Select Grade .300 Win. Mag., on a plains game safari in the Eastern Cape, South Africa earlier this year. With the terrain in this area, longer shots aren't uncommon. I had the CDS dial engraved for my handloads, and it proved to be spot on. I had the opportunity to take a nice Cape Kudu. The shot was a running shot at nearly 400 yards, from ridge top to ridge top. My PH ranged it, and I dialed for 400; he rolled up in his tracks. I took 9 other animals with the same rig. The quality of the optics is top notch. The scope is crystal clear, and never lost zero banging around in the Land Cruiser for 2 weeks.

Xtended Twilight Lens System

Now your hunt can reach further into the twilight than ever before possible, with our exclusive new Xtended Twilight Lens System™. It goes a step further than even the Index Matched Lens System®, using Leupold’s® index matched glass with wavelength specific lens coatings designed to optimize the transmission of low-light wavelengths. When most scope manufacturers quote percentage of light transmission, they usually mean at 550 nm, the green wavelength where the human eye is most sensitive. The challenge is that in twilight conditions, green light disappears and blue/violet light takes over. Your eye is already handicapped when it comes to seeing the blue/violet spectrum, and if your scope is cutting too much of it out, soon you won’t be seeing anything. The Xtended Twilight Lens System places extra emphasis on matching coatings to glass indices to achieve the best possible transmission of the blue/violet spectrum, without sacrificing the color balanced light transmission across the visual spectrum of the Index Matched Lens System. When we combine that with superior computer-generated optical design, lead-free lenses of unsurpassed clarity and quality, and 100 years of manufacturing excellence, you have a scope that gives you the details of low-light scenes in greater definition and luminance than any other scope in the world.

DiamondCoat 2

Exterior lens surfaces are treated with DiamondCoat 2™, an ion-assist lens coating, for higher light transmission and the greatest level of abrasion resistance we’ve ever offered. DiamondCoat already exceeds military standards for hardness and durability. DiamondCoat 2 offers unsurpassed durability and will prove its worth in the wildest places on earth. DiamondCoat 2 has the additional advantage of assisting in light transmission, for greater brightness, clarity and contrast.

2nd Generation Argon/Krypton Waterproofing

While we still waterproof other optics with bone-dry nitrogen – technology pioneered by Leupold® – Select models feature our exclusive, proprietary Argon/Krypton gas blend. Its advantages are two fold: it nearly eliminates the effects of thermal shock, and the Argon/Krypton molecules are significantly larger than nitrogen molecules, reducing the diffusion of gases sealed inside your scope even more than our proven nitrogen technology already does. We pioneered riflescope waterproofing, and now with Argon/Krypton we’re exceeding the standards we set ourselves.

Lead Free

Leupold optics offer better optical clarity as a result of lead-free glass lenses. In addition to its superior optics, the lenses are produced with none of the environmentally damaging by-products common to standard glass production. A small step, but one in the right direction.

Generous Eyebox

The generous eyebox makes it faster and easier to get your eye behind the riflescope and achieve a full, clear sight picture. Setting up for longer shots you'll appreciate the flexibility it affords, and in close up big game or dangerous game situations the quick target acquisition will be the difference maker. At high power, the longer eye relief and more generous eyebox gives you incredible head position latitude and an improved sight pictue that fills the eyepiece completely - putting you in better position to make the shot of a lifetime.

Blackened Lens Edges

Blackened lens edges reduce unwanted glare and diffusion through the lens edges to provide better resolution, improved contrast and superior optical perrformance.

Twin Bias Spring Erector System

CDS Custom Dial System

Leupold CDS™ models allow you to quickly dial your elevation to different sight-in ranges with a custom adjustment matched to your specific ballistics information. The CDS dials change out easily, allowing you flexibility with different loads, conditions and calibers. Every CDS dial features ¼-MOA click or 1 cm click (metric versions), finger adjustments and no adjustment covers to lose, making the VX-2, VX-3, VX-6 and VX-R even more accurate and rugged. How the CDS™ System Works The CDS System works by laser-inscribing your scope's elevation dial to match your load, velocity and conditions. Your scope will be in perfect synch with the way your rifle and load shoots, even for hand loads. Each CDS dial is unique, taking all practical ballistic and environmental factors into account:

MST (Motion Sensor Technology)

An important feature of select Illuminated reticle models is the Leupold-exclusive Motion Sensor Technology (MST). A single touch of the button or twist of the dial activates the illumination, offering several different intensity settings (depending on model) including a high/low indicator (FireDot reticles only). The reticle will automatically switch to “stand-by mode” after five minutes of inactivity, then reactivate whenever the rifle is moved. This eliminates the need for excess movement reaching for buttons, while extending battery life (powered by a readily available CR-2032 coin cell battery.

1/4 MOA Finger Click

Finger click adjustments for windage and elevation (¼-MOA) offer absolute repeatability and dependability over a lifetime of extreme use (metric adjustments – 1 cm per click).
